Trendy Home Interior Styles
What’s your favorite home interior style? Finding it might not be easy because there are so many great ones out there! Below are five popular design categories.
Country - A rustic elegance is characteristic of this look. Some country looks are marked by extensive use of white wood paneling. Floral, checked and striped vintage fabric patterns are standard. Furniture pieces have a history to them, and are often bought in antique shops and flea markets.
Industrial - Steel, bricks, and brass are a few common elements for industrial style. Metal fixtures or stripped floorboards provide an effective nod to the trend. Statement lights are important for softening an otherwise cold space.Colors are guided by the raw materials used for a truly authentic industrial look.
French – Soft, ornate, and fanciful are words to describe this look. Colors are muted and often one fabric is repeated throughout the space. It's characterized by rich details and extensive use of gold. Antique or heirloom furniture, layered dramatic window treatments and abundant fresh flowers fill out a French home.
Modern - Clean, sleek lines and solid colors mark the modern design. Neutrals are heavily used with bold punches of colored accessories. Furniture is angular, lower to the ground and often has metal frames or straight legs with an emphasis on basic shapes and forms. A modern home often has graphic artwork or accents.
Mediterranean - Inspired by the coastal regions of Spain and Italy, the Mediterranean style favors colors that echo the sea. Furniture pieces are short with ornately turned legs and feet; hardware is heavy and often burnished. Fabrics are textured, such as velvet or linen. Terra cotta is common and arched doorways or windows are found in Mediterranean homes.
